I have tried the below simple style with a geoserver point layer:
* {
mark: symbol(square);
:mark {
fill: #0077b3;
};
mark-size: 8m;
}
We use the resulted WMS output in Openlayers with a measurement toolbar.
If we measure the resulting square its sides are about 5,45 meters only.
Do you have any hint why this happens? The measurement tool is validated on
lines and it is accurate enough.
