Martin,

After the OGC meeting two weeks ago, I went on vacation - hence my delay in
responding.

During the OGC CRS working group meeting I raised some comments I have heard
about the need for open source to move to CRS2. I believe Apache SIS has moved
to CRS2 sometime ago, so that is less an issue for this Apache geospatial group.

A part of my comments were about using SQLite to distribute the ESPG database.
The topic was not adequately discussed in the CRS WG and possibly I did not
express the comment correctly. Apparently some open source projects use SQLite
internally to manage definition dictionaries. In any case if EPSG chose to
distribute its database in SQLite, it seems that elements of GeoPackage would
be a quick way to get that done.

Should the OGC Testbeds include a requirement "test interoperability of CRS2
implementations”? We are currently planning Testbed 14 that will begin later
this year, so now is the time to frame this as a good requirement and seek
sponsors. Interested in your discussions.

George
