I have copied trunk over to 2.2.M1 - today being the 24th. I will

release based on your maven 2 process?
I would be very happy to make a release using Maven 2! It would have
some advantages, including a smaller download file because JAR files
are not duplicated as in our Maven 1 build. However, the issue right
now is that I need volunter in order to make sure that I do not forget
some resources. Basically, I need volunter (especially module
maintainer) for running Maven 2 on their machine and report me any
missing resources they may notice in the build. I will be glad to fix
the pom.xml files accordingly, but just need to know potential anomalies.
Running Maven 2 is easy and do not conflict with Maven 1 (provided
that you run "mvn clean" before to switch between Maven 1 and Maven 2
build). Just download the zip file in http://maven.apache.org, unzip
in any directory, and run "mvn clean" followed by "mvn install" in the
same directory than the one where you were used to run "maven build".
Then look in that 'target' directory. All JAR files should be there.
Note that the Maven 2 build is much faster than Maven 1 build
(partially because I have not yet enabled all tests), so developpers
are not going to wait as long as with Maven 1.
I don't really want to encourage Maven 2 until:
- Justin or james trys it and says yes (they are the ones tasked with
keeping this on the read)
- i know if CC will make use of it for nightly builds
- all tests are run (the last thing we need is an excuse for tests not
be run).
Can we straighten all this out and make a maven 2 based release for
2.2.M2 (which is shaping up right now).
Cheers,
Jody
