-1 I originally commented that I didn't really see how this improved over a pair of symbolisers (one to d the graphic and one to do the text).

PS 2/6ths of the the OGC sld team are geotools developers so it would be nice if we did support the spec, but also if people really think this is necessary then we can take it to the spec discussions.
