This error is a total mystery for me. Maven said that there is some tests failures, but actually the tests are not run at all! Everything was working fine until somewhere in February. Since this time, the build is failing for a mysterious reason. I'm able to reproduce this bug on a Linux machine, but I'm unable to reproduce it on my Windows machine - the build continue to work fine there. I was hopping that this bug would disaspear in Maven 2.0.3, but it is not the case.

I didn't had the time to investigate this issue in the past two weeks. I may have a little bit more time now.
Martin if you do lack time, perhaps I can set you up with a one of the new people I am working with? Maybe more trouble then doing it yourself, but if an extra set of hands would be helpful, maven 2 "training" would not go amiss.

The one big discovery of the last weeks is that maven 2 is not using JAVA_HOME on windows, thus people with several java's installed were encountering difficulty on windows boxes. Thanks to Cory for that one.

Clint, if Martin has any useful ideas can you take the time to try them out? I think Cory is working on this at the Refactions end of things?

There are two reasons for the "pressure" to get Maven 2 working:
- it is much nicer for projects such as GeoServer 1.4, and we are starting a new project and would like to use maven 2
- uDig 1.1 will eventually need a 2.2.0 release
