I'm sorry I can't find the mail that states the idea behind "hiding" GDAL behind the Image I/O API. I know I saw it pass. So sorry if I'm asking double: the idea is to include the GDAL JNI effort into the distribution? If yes, how will be dealth with all the non portability issues?
