The tasmania demo should make it back in 1.3.1. But I don't think it
will help you a ton, as it's just a demo, and not geared to what you want.
The functionality you're looking for it _all_ on the client side. The
tasmania demo was more a demo of MapBuilder -
http://mapbuilder.codehaus.org GeoServer continues to serve whatever
layers clients want. So the thing you should do is download mapbuilder
and read through their docs. They'll tell you how to access a WMS
(GeoServer) and configure it so layers can be turned on and off.
best regards,

Hello!
Back in May 2005 I tested GeoServer, and there was Tasmania and I was able
to turn on and to turn off layers.
Download GeoServer this week again, many things have happened - this is
great.
The Tasmanian example as I saw it back in May 2005 is gone.
Not that I am worried about Tasmania.
I would like to have a number of Layers, beeing able to turn those on
and off,
I am using Shapefiles. Is there any tutorial on this ? If so, could you
direct med there.
If not, how would I create a map with X-number of layers ?
best regards, i
