Well I am going to have to make a Java 5 property datastore if that is
any help? I mentioned a 3.0.x branch, but the work will
probably start in spike.

We do have the situation on a version revolt on Suns hands in response
to Java 5 - some projects have identified
a Java 1.3 friendly subset and are just focusing on work... for projects
like GeoServer they will be expected to work in Java 1.4 for a long
time, and the Java 1.3 backport of GeoServer gets kicked at least twice
a year. So if we leave GeoTools 2.3. behind at Java 1.4 expect it the
branch to leave a long time
measured in years...

Now here is a good question, wonder when uDig wants to move to Java 6 ;-)
Cheers,
Jody
