Whatever. This proposal has exacted enough of a toll on me and I'm left with no strength to keep on debating these fine points. Jody, Martin, please have a talk and do decide something on this one. If I can ask for something, I'd really much love a quick solution so that we can start implementing this and switch both geotools and geoserver.
