I hope I am not to late but I want to make a proposal for summer of code 2008
I would like to contribute an image pyramid/mosaic plugin for JDBC, storing georeferenced tiles in a relational database. The architectue of the plugin is multithreaded to beneifit from multiprocessor/multcore systems, based on jai and the geotools library. Databases with spatial extension will be supported (db2,oracle,postgis,mysql). Optional: Support for Oracle Spatial Raster datatype ? I visited your page http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOTOOLS/Summer+of+Code+2008 but I did not find a hint for next steps (or I am to silly, don´t know).
