It is only being used by uDig, only Jesse and I are committing on it right now. I don't mind reviewing a couple of patches, getting you to sign a contributors agreement and allowing you to apply patches yourself.
Things are a bit more crazy on trunk however; and if you find a problem in GeoTools 2.2 we need to check if it has been fixed already on GeoTools trunk ... lots of fun all around.
