Yes, the license is the same (LGPL 2.1) and the copyright owner the same as
well
(OSGEO), so at least there is no licensing barrier at this time.
I would like to upgrade the license to LGPL 3 however, but since the copyright
is owned by OSGEO, only OSGEO can give the autorization of doing so. I plan to
ask them that authorization. A few time ago, the idea of upgrading GeoTools to
LGPL 3 was floating around as well (for compatibility with Apache licenses).
