I have also had an idea for "partitioning" a table based on a unique attribute (the case where a table has a "subtype" attribute ... i would like to offer a FeatureStore wrapper rather then just the FeatureSource wrapper offered by DataStore.getView). - http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3010 Is this one of interest?
