Taking a deep breath and trying a calmer reaction to this one. As I already said, the comment seems to me completely out of place in this thread, as I'm trying to share back something that I could just as easily keep in GeoServer. I'm not imposing, I'm sharing. However, if you look at the commit stats it's pretty clear that a sizable part of the work in GeoTools is done by GeoServer committers, so it should not be a surprise there is a bias towards stuff that GeoServer needs. That said, we spend time to contribute back as much as we can, and it's funny, because it's our decision to give back that creates most of the bias. I know you have specific use cases (IBM SDK support, J2EE distributed transactions) that are not well served by Geotools as it is today. But you cannot ask everybody to step in on a use case that we have no pressing need for. When I have a need for GeoServer I just go and contribute in that direction, you should do the same. I know sometimes it's not easy, and I'm here to help _with the spare time_ I have. Spare time that is usually thinly sliced among the needs of many. Not just mines. So please be patient and if we forget about stuff you need, keep reminding us.
