Scott, Jody, I found a few discussions where people had the same prob finding the exec plugin but got it to work by using the fully qualified plugin name the first time...
mvn org.codehaus.mojo:exec-maven-plugin:java -Dexec.mainClass=org.geotools.Quickstart No idea why it happens.
