Build fails on osx as well; tried on linux and it works.
So build works on linux only (and linux only).

I thought so as well; but osx is also using utf-8

I am going to have to back out the changes - at least on my local machine - in 
order to get back to work.
If we are still stuck tomorrow can we back out the new grammar?
