As per last email I am catching up with Jira activity; mostly because I don't
want to be a bottleneck.
Justin - I wanted to ask you about feature validation; the grand vision was for
the feature model to not validate (ie support invalid data).
We left validation in the during the 2.5 transition to confirm the migration
happened correctly.
After that there were two ways of going forward.
- shutting off validation (what http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOT-3283
proposes); or
- creating a custom feature factory that did not perform validation
Did you have any strong feeling about this? The Jira comments indicate that he
would prefer a "switch".
I would prefer to make that switch be a different FeatureFactory implementation
(or a configuration option on the existing feature factory if we must). The
factory can be passed in as a hint (even on the stable branch if required); and
be made the default for trunk (perhaps after a period of transition and
testing).
