Hi,
restarting the thread summing up what we have so far.
Objective: we want a code to represent cartesian data
such as floor plans and photos and the like.
Options:
- EPSG:0
pro: easy to remember
clients are supposed not to bomb out on it (valid range)
cons: reserved code, people voted it down with -1
- EPSG:-1
pro: easy to remember
not a reserved code
cons: will all clients accept it? Dunno....
- EPSG:99999
pro: not a reserved code
in the official set of user codes
cons: nobody will remember it means "cartesian generic"
Not happy with any of them but given all the options I would
still go for EPSG:0 taking the risk that EPSG would one day
use it (which I believe is really unlikely).
Second choice would be -1, with the quick that I have no
way to test some common clients like ArcGis.
Last one 99999, seems too ugly to be true to me...
Cheers
Andrea
