I already tried updating the plugin because I recall there were memory
/ speed issues with version 2.5 or 2.6 which affected JAITools.
However it didn't help in this case.

I've also tried searching for any general complaints about javadoc
running out of memory under OSX, hoping that it might be due to a
recent update as you suggested earlier, but so far I haven't found
anything useful.
