Looks like it does - in executeInteral:
mapContent.getViewport().setBounds( … )
Lots of the other code there could call directly through to viewport model -
setMapWidth etc…
In any case I hope we answered Micheal's question - and we both agree about the
use of a Query hint at the FeatureSource level.
