Sorry, i should have been more clear. For postgis specifically the old
workflow of:
1. creating a new empty database called template_postgis
2. running the sql scripts to enable postgis in it
3. creating new databases from that template database
Is no longer the recommended way postgis recommends to spatially enable a
database. Instead they recommend:
1. create a new empty database
2. run the sql command "create extension postgis" on it
That said I am not sure if the template approach is explicitly
deprecated... I would have to ask Paul (cc'd) here.
And I don't believe the postgresql template database support itself is
going anywhere.
