Hi Jody, thanks for the response and guidance. I wasn't sure who would know about the SOLR datastore since the only reference I saw to it was on this list. Good news is in the presentation you linked to the SOLR Data Store is the first slide under Roadmap, so perhaps there is some development planned for 2014. I don't think we have the capacity to take on implementing it from scratch ourselves right now. But if anyone does end up doing an implementation, and would like help testing and/or contributing bug fixes or small features, please feel free to get in touch.
Thanks for all the great work on GeoTools.

David

Hi David:

It is going to take a while for the developers to recover from foss4g. It can be a bit tricky looking at email (or even proposals <http://docs.codehaus.org/display/GEOTOOLS/Proposals>) and guessing what functionality will be available.

There are plenty of examples of functionality being discussed on the email list - and then the budget not coming through (or even worse the budget not covering contributing the work back).

I do not think Solr made the roadmap/wishlist <http://www.slideshare.net/jgarnett/state-of-geoserver-geotools-and-friends-2014> - so it may be in need of funding.

So the first thing to check is if the project went ahead, if not you may wish to look into doing the work yourself. We try and make it easy to take part.
