Dear developers, I experienced issues trying to build an app-schema mapping configuration based on GeoSciML 3.2 schemas, namely http://schemas.geosciml.org/geosciml/3.2/geosciml.xsd (got "no GeologicUnit element found" exception).
After some investigation, I concluded that the problem arises when the schema referred to in the mapping file is itself a placeholder, i.e. contains no definitions, just import tags referring to external schemas: in such a case, the EMF parser ignores imported schemas and, as a result, the elements and types defined there are not made available to the app-schema data access. At least another user experienced the same issue, with a different schema: http://osgeo-org.1560.x6.nabble.com/Problem-mapping-ELF-Addresses-schema-td5217968.html Two days ago I opened a JIRA ticket: https://osgeo-org.atlassian.net/browse/GEOT-5194 ...and yesterday I submitted a PR with a tentative fix: https://github.com/geotools/geotools/pull/946 The fix affects org.geotools.xml.Schemas and essentially forces the import of external schemas (if any) when the schema being parsed contains itself no element / type definition. I successfully ran a full local build, the Travis build seems to have failed because of unreachable Unidata artifacts. I would like to have this PR merged before the feature freeze on the 28th: can anybody confirm that my fix is viable?
