Hi Jody, yep, I've just confirmed that as-is, the code is pretty much useless and a XEE attack can be performed. The hints do not have a path to be passed down, as they originate here, and are hard-coded:

(I guess it matches your option of "playing silly games with global settings"). However we should be explicit that whatever is set there applies only to the code using the old parser). Any suggestion for the names? Changing the API would instead entail adding constructors all over the place, since the caps parsing is done right at construction time (rather extensive set of changes). The thing is, this stuff is blocking the stable release.... Btw, I was worried about GetFeatureInfo cascading, but that's done in GeoServer and it's already covered by the customizable entity resolver.
