Yes, the goal is to add the support of an H2GIS datastore. The work in
progress will be on the OrbisGIS fork of GeoTools
(https://github.com/orbisgis/geotools).
For the code contribution license, it has already been signed by the
CNRS (employer) and the code will be pushed under its name.

Please keep in mind you are working on the live codebase and don't
break the build :) We set things up this way to encourage
participation in the project, glad you could join us.
I also need to double check you have read the code contribution
license [1] and sent a PDF to OSGeo (either individually or your
employer may do so for all their staff).
