This is done automatically using the HSQL engine; you don't need to care
about that.

If you have MS-Windows and Access installed on your machine, I suggest
to download the database in MS-Access format from www.epsg.org and
browse it. The MS-Access format contains forms for browsing.

No, but you can get WKT for some particular CRS of your choice as Adrian
explained.
