Ciao Simone Success !!! Grazie mille !
I adapted the SLD file from the test data and now have a colour image on screen (the coverage represents a fractal terrain so the colour image is quite eye-bending :) I'll study the code further to understand how to accomplish the same thing programmatically. My float coverages represent a temporal sequence of habitat resource maps for animals in a simulation and I want the user to be able to vary the colour scheme to highlight different levels of resources as required by different animals. But it's1am here in Sydney so that's enough for today... Many thanks again for your help.
