There is protocol. First, open a jira improvement issue
(jira.codehaus.org) where you describe the improvement, and attach
a patch there. Also, there is a licensing issue in that OSGEO should
be the copyright holder of the gt2 source code. I think a way to
avoid you to sign paperwork would be to state your patches are public
domain, and thus we can grab them an incorporate in gt2 without
headaches.

Adrian, Jody, is public domain a good way to accept patches from
someone that did not sign a contribution agreement to gt2?
