JMapFrame is just a JFrame that constructs a JMapPane and other GUI elements for you. In the current version there is no way to plug-in a specialized map pane but it would be very easy for you to take the JMapFrame code and modify it. If you study the code you will find that it is quite short and straightforward. Hope this helps.
