Hi,

thanks again for your really fast response.

An obvious workaround for me is to split the field into several fields
(Field01 to Field14), and the reading application hast to merge them.

But I don't like the solution for 2 reasons:

- The Shapefile becomes very confusion by the additional fields, and in most
cases the additional fields will be empty as there maximum auf 3500 chars is
used very rarly

- The application that reads my shapefile has also to be modified


So I wonder if it is possible to use another format than DBF? If yes, where
can I define it and can it be read by another application without
modification?
