ShapefileDataStore.getSchema().getGeometryDescriptor().getCoordinateReferenceSystem();

Is this what you mean?

Subject: [Geotools-gt2-users] Retrieving Geographic Coordinates System from
shapefile

Hi everyone,

I would like to know if the coordinates system (WGS84, RF93, etc.) in which the
coordinates of a shapefile are expressed can be retrieved either from the
ShapefileDatastore or from the file itself. I know that if the data stored is
projected a .prj file is provided with the shapefile, but for geographical
coordinates, I don't know where to get the information.

Thank you
Ben
