A simple feature is flat, has no sub-features, no multi-valued attributes, no collections. Each attribute is a primivite (string, date, number, or a geometry). > I found various examples on this subject, with custom features being > successfully parsed by Geotools. > So the obstacle here is AIXM XSD's sophistication? > Doesn't Geotools uses a "universal" approach to translate schema informations? > It's not just a lack in "translation" capabilities, it seems like an > XSD bare parsing problem. > Am I wrong? Parsing XML based on a schema you get to know only at runtime, and with the complexity of the GML one, is actually a hard problem for many people. If you believe you can manage it I'd suggest you have a look at the xsd modules in Geotools and provide patches to enable them buillding collection of Feature instead of SimpleFeature, as well as handling sub-features, collections, multiplicity and polymorphism Cheers Andrea -- ------------------------------------------------------- Ing.
