Those messages refer to the availability GDAL stuff inside your JRE. Have a
look at the imageio-ext project documentation for instructions on how to
install the required java extensions, set up enviornment variables and other
assorted fun.

It is a bit of gap that the user guide does not cover this .. after reading the
imageio-ext docs perhaps you could tell me what to put in the user guide?
