Thanks a lot Daniele!
The problem was in the GDAL_DRIVER_PATH environment variable. I had this
set to the folder \imageio-ext_1_1\gdalplugin of my imageio-ext
installation folder (as indicated in the imageio-ext instructions), but I
have changed it to point to the folder where the ERDAS ECW SDK dlls are,
and now it works :)
