Dear Daniele,
thanks a lot for your valuable description. We used the following parameters
from the GeoServer website:
BackgroundValues: default value.
OutputTransparentColor: #000000 (to make transparent the background).
InputTransparentColor: ‘no color’.
Switching the parameters to
BackgroundValues: 255,255,255.
OutputTransparentColor: ‘no color’.
InputTransparentColor: ‘no color’.
solved the issue. Can the description for showing aerial imagery at
http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/tutorials/image_mosaic_plugin/imagemosaic.html
be updated to keep others from getting the same problem?
Regards,
Hendrik

Betreff: Re: [Geotools-gt2-users] ImageMosaic display
Dear Hendrik,
A few notes on the imageMosaic parameters:
- the background value is used to fill parts of the mosaic extent which aren't
covered by actual data.
- the input transparent color is used to make transparent a color before doing
the mosaic of the input datasets.
- the output transparent color is used to make transparent a color after the
mosaic has been computed.
Which parameters did you configure?
If you have a mask available for your dataset, you could also try with the
imageMosaic footprint.
More info are available here:
http://docs.geoserver.org/2.4.x/en/user/tutorials/imagemosaic_footprint/imagemosaic_footprint.html
Cheers,
Daniele

Hi,
we use the image mosaic plugin to display a set of ecw files containing aerial
imagery. We applied the parameters from the GeoServer docs
(http://docs.geoserver.org/latest/en/user/tutorials/image_mosaic_plugin/imagemosaic.html)
to avoid the black areas shown on that web site. As an unwanted effect we also
get all the black pixels inside the aerial imagery displayed as white, which is
the background color of the map (example available here
http://www.arche-noah-kinder.de/Downloads/sample.jpg). We would have expected
that using the parameter BACKGROUND_COLOR with Color.WHITE solves the problem,
but this parameter seems to have no effect. Is there a way to tell the plugin
that only the areas without imagery should be transparent or that they should
be colored white instead of black?
Thanks in advance,
Hendrik
