Thanks for the correction. I did miss isValid!
As I poked around, I was looking to see if classes like
FilterToSqlHelper / FilterToSQL already had a mapping for st_isValid. I
doubt pushing it down to any database would make sense though... Most
geo-systems are likely to choke on ingest for bad geometries.

We have a "isValid" filter function that can be used in CQL, e.g.,
"isValid(myGeom) = true"
And you are right it won't get down into the database now, but it just
misses a few lines of
code for Postgresql/Postgis to actually get it in SQL.
Have you ever seen that "encode functions" datastore parameter?
It activates this code in the sql encoder helper class:

Now, with just a few extra lines of code, it's possible to actually
make it encode isValid into ST_IsValid(....) :-)
