Great Idea, and thats the whole point why World Wind is (from its design

Here you can go and implement that feature yourself (or find someone who
does that job for you by being paid for it by you for example) and
contribute it to community if you really have a desire for it.
Beside that any really cool feature from WorldWind (like Moon and Mars
view for example) ended up also in GE.
Regarding the base data, in WorldWind it is possible to include own WMS,
so you can for example include that yahoo data or even that VE data into
it to enhance the Landsat imagery which is standrat in WW.

As far as I know there is a GE Pro version, but I didn't had access to

Beside that, see what is possible with WorldWindJava by using it as a
JavaApplet to integrate it into websites.

In my opinion way better than platformdependent browser plugins form GE
or VE.
