Hi, We basically use Flex as UI and ColdFusion/Railo as application platform solution.
There are lots of sample for Flex and ActionScript and would be interesting to check them. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/tourdeflex/web/ Here are some samples on mapping section. And a nice usage of geolocation with Flex on the followin page. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/tourdeflex/planetary_dashboard/ As a data integration point, we prefer ColdFusion because of being an Adobe solution which can integrate with Flex easily. It would be good idea to check it too.
