I have a question related to DGPS with low-cost GPS receivers. To me there's a gap between high-end GPS instruments and low-cost receivers. I call it the geography market segment (accurracy around 0.5m - 2m) being between consumer GPS (5-20m) and the geodesy/surveyours segment (~cm).
Now given that mobile phones can be connected to low-cost GPS (e.g. via bluetooth) it should be possible to implement at a "consumer DGPS" which gets an accurracy of 2m or better. And even if the mobile is offline during rovering, DGPS can be accomplished with postprocessing (RTKLIB is such an open source program package for standard and precise positioning with GNSS: http://gpspp.sakura.ne.jp/rtklib/rtklib.htm ). This works since there are some services around which offer you a second ("virtual") GPS. Does anybody know of activities in this area?
