The data comes from :

NSSL (Severe Storms Lab)

This is something I'm interested in as well. The above service didnt
work out for me in a recent projewct because the trails don't appear
until about a month after the event. There may be some more recent
posting of data at the NSSL site however.

Have you tried the Storm Prediction Center’s SVRGIS page?

I grabbed the 1950-2010 data set found there and put it Fusion Tables,
but haven’t done anything with it beyond that.

Subject: [Geowanking] Tornado damage overlays

Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any overlays showing the
path of destruction for historical

and recent tornadoes? I have done several searches to no avail. It
would seem to be a valuable tool

for search & rescue, especially if it showed the scatter patterns of
the historical Enhanced Fujita Scale (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enhanced_Fujita_Scale )

tornadoes. Ground swirl patterns (cycloidal marks) may also be
analyzed. (Wikipedia)
