Hi, all - yeasty cloudy beers for me.
I found that getting data into a *usable* format was the hardest part
of my applications, nevermind finding the useful data in the first
place. Are there any GIS layer advertising options available? I was
thinking of hacking DNS to specify a boundary and location.
Personally, for web apps, I think shapefiles are just fine. Reading
shapefiles with a tileindex is pretty fast, IMHO, when compared to the
overhead of a database. I guess the important thing is what you're doing
with the data - put the data closer to the output of your application.

Nobody give a flying monkey about the format jerking.
It's 2012 and we're waffling about formats. How about problems which I actually
care about or might generate actual revenue?

30 minutes journey and free parking are at least quantifiable to
anyone. i may hate your favorite IPA.
