Hi,

I am quite new to the spatial field and a colleague of mine suggested I post my query on your forum, and I was wondering if anyone was able to give me some advise.

I am interested, and have been for a while, working for an aid company who specialise in GIS, or utilise a GIS to assist in their development projects.

I have completed a Environmental Degree majoring in GIS and have 6 months work experience in the spatial field and was looking for a path into the development side of things.

So my query is this – Is anyone able to give me an idea of the amount of experience required before I am realistically able to apply for these sort of jobs, where to find these jobs and what other experience/courses may help to get these jobs.

I have travelled to a variety of developing nations and am aware of the conditions that I may possibly work in.

If anyone is able to give some advise it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Richard
