I'd also like to have a GPS with a rechargable battery that can log
positions and upload the saved logs to a computer without having to do
anything manually. I've tried two that do some part of this but not
the rest:
Continuous logging to a file and a rechargable battery seem like such
an obvious combination that somebody must have done it... but I don't
know who.
There are several. Delorme BlueLogger is nice, but the software is
windows only (though there is someone working on a cross-platform
interface for d/l'ing logs).
WBT-200 and NaviGPS are both loggers that interface w/ GPSBabel, so
could automatically pull down info.
Re: the first request - I would recommend checking out the Garmin
Nuvi. It has a great interface, car adapter, SD card/USB interface,
you can load your own Waypoints using a GPX file, though it won't do
logging I don't believe. For that you may want to look at the Garmin
60CSx, that will do navigation but isn't as easy to use or meant for
driving as the Nuvi.
