from open view to sensors to a geospatial reference - thanks for your
patience


I read Dutton's paper a few years ago and noticed it relied on a
non-recursive approach. The use of "N" and "S" in the major triad
designations, inconsitent numerical coventions (Dutton's scheme can be
described as binary/octahedral) but the most glaring difference between his
HTM and this recursive triangular mesh is the methodical and consistent
method for designating minor triads.

but from the comments I've read here so far, my explanation is found
wanting - it seems nothing short of an conversion application will do.
