Mother: 1/2 a mile (to the local pool)
Son: 300 yards (end of the street)
At age 10 I biked to the county line via roads I had no business on,
really, including the Lincoln Highway (US30)
I asked neither permission nor forgiveness. I didn't tell them I went.
