Description:
The mission of the Healthy City Project is to improve the ability of
low-income, underserved children, youth, and their families to access
services and to facilitate smarter resource planning throughout L.A.
County. To this end, Healthy City (HC) has created the most
comprehensive and technologically advanced resource mapping website
that
provides free access to the largest database of education, health and
human services in L.A. County. Always on the cutting edge of
technology,
HealthyCity.org was recently recognized as a featured project for the
Netsquared 2008 Conference (N2Y3). Along with our online site, HC
provides direct research and technical assistance to governmental
(elected and otherwise), philanthropic, and community based
institutions
including website creation, maintenance, and assistance. The Healthy
City Project is a program within the Advancement Project LA, a
nonprofit
research and public policy organization near downtown Los Angeles.
Healthy City is now seeking a highly qualified Technology Project
Manager with working knowledge and experience using a wide range of
Web
2.0 tools to help lead its successful online site and various research
and policy portals. This position will work directly with Healthy
City's
Director in overseeing multiple aspects of the project including the
website maintenance and design, research/technology projects, and
administration.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
o Attain a global, detailed knowledge and understanding of current
users
needs, capabilities and interests
o Manage all technological aspects of www.HealthyCity.org and various
project websites including:
o Research and tracking of new trends in online technology
o Assist in setting scope of work and timelines for various
technological projects
o Work alongside programmer consultants and provide technical support
for production as needed
o Quality assurance testing and usability testing for various project
websites
o Provide technological leadership and support to multidisciplinary,
diverse, highly skilled staff
o Design and implement refinements/additions to the HealthyCity.org
website
o Work with other project managers and the director on development,
communications and administration
Additional Qualifications:
o Substantive background in technology, computer science, and/or
database management. Successful candidate will have high level of
comfort and experience with two or more of these areas.
o 3-5 years experience in technology project management.
o Strong familiarity with demographic, health and economic datasets
highly preferred.
o High computer proficiency and comfort, including proficiency in
Javascript and PHP.
o Experience designing, implementing and managing technology projects
and/or quantitative or qualitative research projects a plus.
o Understanding of Web 2.0 concepts and capabilities.
o Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work with
diverse communities.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills, i.e. facilitation,
outreach and message delivery
o Flexibility to adjust and contribute to continually evolving work
situation and changing priorities.
