Dear Colleagues and Friends:

This month I began a new job at the McCormack Graduate School of Policy
<http://www.mccormack.umb.edu/> Studies at the University of Massachusetts
in Boston. I was hired in the Department of Conflict Resolution, Human
Security and Global Governance with the explicit task to work with my senior
colleague Craig Murphy (who also just joined the department) and with
faculty across the university on creating a new, transdisciplinary PhD
program in Global Governance and Human Security. It is an exciting new task
that takes me beyond the environmental focus to a broader human security
dimension, including economic welfare, social welfare, environmental
integrity, and human rights.

I will continue to lead the Global Environmental Governance
<http://www.environmentalgovernance.org/> Project, which will now have a
permanent institutional base in Boston, in close collaboration with the team
at the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy. The coming months will
be busy and fulfilling as we provide input to the ministerial consultations
on international environmental governance reform, engage in the production
of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO-5), and prepare for the UN Conference
on Sustainable Development in 2012.

My new contact information is below and I would be delighted to hear from
you with any suggestions and ideas on human security, global environmental
governance and sustainability.

With warmest regards,

Maria
