Colleagues,

I want to do a "pre-test/post-test" survey of important but basic questions
about climate change for a "Science and Politics of Climate Change" course I
start in January. I would greatly appreciate 1 or more questions from any
of you that are basic questions that would be the first steps of "climate
literacy" for students.

I will forward the survey to others once I have it together in cases others
are interested in using it in their courses. I realize it's the holidays
but any questions you might send will be appreciated. If someone knows of a
good one online somewhere or has developed one themselves

Basic questions that come to mind for me are:

-- No international treaty exists to reduce emissions of the gases that
cause climate change. T/F

-- People from which of the following countries are the biggest per capita
emitters of greenhouse gases (US, China, India, Brazil).

-- Which of the following countries produces the biggest total national
emissions of greenhouse gases (US, China, India, Brazil).

I would also want to cover basic science questions such as which gases are
responsible, will Arctic snow/ice melt (vs. Antarctic snow/ice melt) cause
sea level rise, etc. Pointers for good "they should know these" questions
in this realm would be good too.

Other questions welcome.

Thanks,

Ron
