Please see invitation below to join a new online community of scholars studying international non-governmental organizations and forward to any relevant contacts! (Apologies for cross-postings) Dear International NGO Scholars, It seems at every academic meeting (ARNOVA, ISA, APSA, and others) there is a group of INGO scholars who work hard to make connections, but that these connections don't often go beyond these individual associations. ARNOVA folks can't often attend ISA or APSA. APSA members can't get to ARNOVA, etc. We've created a website to help remedy this and make our groups of INGO scholars more of a community. It isn't meant to replace our current networks through our various associations; rather, it's meant to pull those networks together into one big network. We'd like to invite you to join the Ning INGO Scholars. It's a website for scholars of international/transnational/comparative/global non-governmental organizations/nonprofits/civil society organizations to connect - share events; new publications; new events in the INGO world that impact our research; opportunities and advice on our research, teaching and practitioner impact. We encourage scholars from all disciplines to engage with each other to strengthen our individual work as well as the field in general. Some important features of this website is that 1) it has a searchable history of past posts; 2) it has an event calendar to list conferences, especially conference due dates; and 3) it has a searchable member function - so please give us a short background about who you are, where you are and what in particular you study (you can see our bios for examples). The site is NEW, which means we have some posts and events listed, but expect that number to grow exponentially as our membership grows. Any member can post, but to keep the content relevant to INGO Scholars, all members must be approved (no spammers, please!). The website is http://ingoscholars.ning.com/?xgi=2bVA8s6E5y4J4F Please join! We want this to helpful for all members, so please contact Cristina Balboa ([email protected]) or Paloma Raggo ([email protected]) with any suggestions to make it better!
