Dear colleagues --
I'm
putting together a panel for the 2013 ISA conference on the loose theme of
"agriculture in the shadow of climate change." Philip McMichael will chair, and
Bryan McDonald has agreed to act as discussant. I'm looking for a couple of
additional papers to fill out the panel.

If
you have room for this in your ISA planning please send along a brief
abstract to [email protected]. Here's the working panel

DRAFT PANEL DESCRIPTION (pending your paper ideas)

Panel Title: Feeding a Warming World

This panel will look at the challenge of feeding a growing
human population on a warming planet. Established forecasts suggest that global
food production will need to expand by as much as 70% by mid-century, even as
climate change threatens to worsen the world’s agricultural prospects. Is human
ingenuity up to the task? What are the potential paths forward, and how is the
world to choose among them? What is being done today to prepare for the food
needs of tomorrow?

Thanks for considering,
Simon
